2020 Season Update

                        Better        Together

Hello Washington Baseball Families,

We thank you all for your dedication to our community and to Washington Baseball.  Since our last update, Governor Whitmer extended the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order to mid-May without a timeline for when small gatherings can occur again.  In addition, our last correspondence with Romeo-Washington-Bruce Parks and Recreation Department gave us the indication the earliest the fields could be ready would be early June.  Our Board has been working very hard to make adjustments and put together potential scenarios where a season could occur but unfortunately with this latest information a season may not be possible this spring and summer.

Therefore, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Season.  This was not a decision we came upon easily.  Washington Baseball has been a cornerstone for the spring and summer months in our community for almost 60 years.  We have almost 40 teams for the more than 350 registered players of ages 5-14.  We are thankful for the continued support of this community for bringing the game of baseball to our Youth.  We give special thanks to the Managers and Coaches who volunteer their time and to the generous Sponsors of our community who make Washington Baseball possible each and every season.

From now to the end of May, we will begin processing refunds for all players registered for 2020 Season of Washington Baseball.  You can expect to receive a full refund of the registration amount you paid less $10 per player for website fees and $3 per transaction for bank fees.  For example, if you registered a player for the PeeWee division then your cost was $95 + a bank processing fee by a third party to make the total charge $98.  Your refund will be $85.  Washington Baseball is a non-profit run completely by volunteers therefore we are refunding every dollar we could recover from the season.  Unfortunately, our website administration and bank processing has certain non-refundable fees outside of our control.  The refund will process back to the form of payment you used to register your player(s).  If you have not received your refund by May 31, 2020 then please contact us at [email protected].

We will overcome these challenges and we promise Washington Baseball will be back in 2021.  In fact, depending on what the future holds, we may even offer a late summer/ early fall season for 2020.  Once again, we thank you for all your support for Washington Baseball and we encourage you to stay active with your kids.  Play catch in the backyard, work on those swings, and have fun in the sun.   Remember, we are better together.  Stay safe and stay active!
